About Dr. Porubsky


Caitlin Porubsky, DO, is a skilled and compassionate dermatologist at Dermatology Specialists of Brighton in Brighton, Michigan. She has an extensive interest and background in cutaneous oncology with a focus on melanoma. Dr. Porubsky is the author of numerous studies and papers and is a thought leader and teacher.


At the clinic, she specializes in mole mapping, in addition to skin cancer prevention, screening, and treatment. Patients love her gentle and caring approach, and her eagerness to educate them about their skin and how to care for it.


After completing her medical degree at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, she held a traditional rotating internship at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. Her desire to serve in oncological dermatology led her to complete a Research Fellowship at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.


When not practicing medicine, Dr. Porubsky enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, kayaking, skiing and traveling when possible

About Dr. LoPiccolo


Dr. Matteo C. LoPiccolo is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon. He specializes in Mohs surgery and facial reconstruction for the treatment of skin cancer. He is also an expert in numerous cosmetic procedures including neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport), dermal fillers, blepharoplasty, hair transplantation, cutaneous lasers, and other energy-based devices.


Dr. LoPiccolo graduated first in his class from Alma College with a Bachelor of Science degree. He earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, the highest academic distinction awarded. He completed his post-graduate training at Henry Ford Hospital where he was Chief Resident of Dermatology. He finished his training with a fellowship in Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at SkinCare Physicians in Boston, one of the nation’s leading programs, taught by world-renowned faculty with appointments at Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and Brown Medical Schools.


Dr. LoPiccolo continues to maintain a passion for academics and education. He serves as a staff physician for The Henry Ford Health System Department of Dermatology and Wayne State University Medical School, where he instructs residents and medical students in cutaneous surgery, lasers, and cosmetic treatments. He gives frequent lectures at local and national dermatology meetings and has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters in dermatologic surgery. He is also active in medical research investigating the latest in device technology and surgical techniques.


Dr. LoPiccolo is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American College of Mohs Surgery, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

About Alan Fligiel, MD


Dr. Alan Fligiel trained in New York where he completed medical school at the State University of New York followed by a residency in otolaryngology at New York University. After serving in the U. S. Navy at a regional naval hospital as chief of EENT and then practicing in California, Dr. Fligiel decided to pursue training in dermatology. He completed his dermatology residency at Wayne State University in 1984. Since that time he has continued to teach dermatology at Wayne State University where he is a Clinical Associate Professor. He practiced as a board-certified dermatologist at his own office for nearly thirty years. Dr. Fligiel enjoys seeing people of all ages and seeks to help them manage the entire range of skin problems. He looks forward to meeting you at our Brighton location.

About Dr. Hamzavi


Dr. Iltefat Hamzavi, M.D., has practiced in our offices since 2001. He sees general dermatology with a special focus on pigmentary disorders and hidradenitis suppurativa.


Dr. Hamzavi earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in Sociology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Hamzavi received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and graduated with academic honors in a variety of specialty rotations. . Dr. Hamzavi completed his residency in dermatology at Wayne State University and then spent time in Europe training at some of the world’s leading skin care centers. In 2001, Dr. Hamzavi completed an advanced one-year laser and photo-medicine fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.


Dr. Hamzavi is an active clinic researcher and investigates causes and treatments for vitiligo, hidradenitis suppurativa, photomedicine, and other conditions.


In addition to the time spent in our office, Dr.Hamzavi also serves as senior staff physician at Henry Ford Health System’s Department of Dermatology, and teaches medical students at Wayne State University. He has co-authored over 100 peer reviewed papers which have been cited over 2000 times in highly respected journals. He also volunteers his time with a variety of non-profits in education, civic engagement and bringing attention to debilitating skin diseases. He has served as founding Co-Chair of the Global Vitiligo Foundation and as President of the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation.


He sees patients at our Fort Gratiot and Canton locations. He also serves as physician liaison for the group.

About Jennifer M. Reiss, MS, PA-C


Jennifer M. Reiss, MS, PA-C., is a board-certified Physician Assistant and has been practicing dermatology in Michigan since 2007. Reiss received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 2003. She completed her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Wayne State University in 2007.


Reiss has been board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has been licensed since 2007. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Michigan Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.


In her free time you can find her camping, boating or traveling with her husband and daughter. Jen loves the outdoors and spends as much time as she can enjoying them! Jennifer is excited to see you at our Brighton location.

About Elizabeth Messenger, MD


Elizabeth Messenger, MD is a board-certified dermatologist. A Michigan native, she graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with a degree in Neuroscience. She then matriculated to the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine as a 21st Century Scholar, a full-tuition merit scholarship. While in medical school, Dr. Messenger was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She graduated with “Top of Class” distinction and was awarded the Dr. Ramon Sifre Prize for Excellence in Diagnostic Medicine.


After medical school, Dr. Messenger completed her internship at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and dermatology residency at Stanford University. During residency, Dr. Messenger pursued her interest in the intersections of internal medicine, rheumatology and dermatology under the mentorship of David Fiorentino, MD, PhD. She then served on faculty at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Dermatology prior to joining Dermatology Specialists of Brighton.


Outside of work, Dr. Messenger can be found spending time with her family and dog, playing a variety of sports, and enjoying early morning Peloton rides. She is excited to provide excellent general, pediatric and surgical dermatologic care to patients of all ages in her home state of Michigan.

About Jason Hui, PA-C.

Jason Hui, PA-C., is a board certified Physician Assistant who has been specializing in Dermatology since 2002.

Hui attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999. He then furthered his career after successfully completing a didactic course and receiving a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University. While in practice, he aided in the training of Dermatology residents between 2003-2014. He frequently gave lectures to Family Practice and Internal Medicine residents, who would then shadow him during office hours. Jason also has participated in multiple research studies with a focus on psoriasis. His interests include general dermatology, but also specializes in benign and malignant surgical treatments.

Jason has lived in the Brighton area since 2003, and spends his time outside of work being a super fan of his son and daughter in all of their extra curriculars! Jason also loves to cook and enjoys supporting local businesses in the area.

 

Jason can accommodate your busy schedule! He has early morning hours starting at 7am on Monday and Tuesday and evening hours extending to 7pm on Thursdays.  He also has Saturday appointments available.
